Miami Heat Takes 3-0 Lead Over Knicks

Despite a strong first-half defensive effort by the New York Knicks, the team succumbs to LeBron James and the Miami Heat’s 4th quarter rally to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their first round match-up. Heat won the contest 87-70.

The Knicks played remarkable defense in the first half, putting James into foul trouble as well as committing turnovers, LeBron was able to get to the line often enough to rack up 12 points at the break. Foul troubles sat James out for most of the 3rd allowing him to rest his legs for the fourth.

When fourth quarter came, LeBron simply took over, scoring 17 points in the final quarter including eight straight to start the quarter, breaking open the lead and the Knicks just couldn’t keep up.

Dwyane Wade chipped in an efficient 20 point, 5 steal effort while Mario Chalmers added 19 of his own.

Carmelo Anthony scored 22 points for the Knicks but shot just 7 of 23 with James and Shane Battier hounding him all night. He didn’t get much help either when J.R. Smith netted only 12 points off 5 of 18 shooting and Tyson Chandler added 10 of his own. No other Knicks player scored double figures.

Miami limited New York to a dismal 31% shooting and 18 turnovers. There’s little the Knicks could do against a team like the Heat when they commit more turnovers than the Heat.

Miami takes a commanding 3-0 lead, no team in league history has come back from a 3-0 deficit so odds are against the Knicks whether or not Amar’e Stoudemire can return from his lacerated hand or if Jeremy Lin magically recovers for Game 4.
