Zero Defense Game Where the Knicks Prevailed over the Hawks 113-112

In a wildly entertaining offensive-minded game, the New York Knicks beat the Atlanta Hawks in a thrilling 113-112 game that showed almost no defense from both sides of the squad.

It’s no coincidence that in a night that the Knicks sit their best defensive player, Tyson Chandler, the game became a Swiss-cheese defensive showcase for the Knicks. Fortunately for them, the Hawks weren’t any better as well, giving away uncontested shots and allowed the Knicks to hit a whopping 12 of 19 from beyond the arc and 54.5% overall.

The Knicks reciprocated, allowing the Hawks to hit 54% of their shots while giving up 15 three-pointers of their own, but the final defensive play of Amar’e Stoudemire against a red-hot Marvin Williams sealed the game for the Knicks.

It is Stoudemire’s second game back from his back injury and with everybody worrying his return will break Carmelo Anthony’s scoring spree the past two weeks, it’s great to see both All-Stars being on the same page and delivering what they’re both signed for, huge scoring.

Stoudemire had 22 points and 12 rebound while Anthony poured in 39 points and 10 rebounds of his own. The lack of defense also allowed 18 points from Landry Fields (3 of 3 from beyond the arc), 11 from Iman Shumpert, and 13 from Baron Davis.

The Hawks did just as well offensivelywith Marvin Williams leading the squad with 29 points, Jeff Teague added 23 points and 5 steals, while Joe Johnson added 22 of his own, hitting all four of his three-point shots.

The win guaranteed New York a playoff spot but they’re still trying to fend off a struggling Philadelphia 76ers at the 7th spot. Atlanta still holds a commanding 2 game lead over the Orlando Magic for the 5th spot in the East.
